5 bad ANS phones in a row. Finally got a UMX that works okay but sometimes the text app freezes. They sent the last four digits of my credit card instead of the last four digits of my social security number to the California LifeLine Administator, so I was unable to renew online. Last year they had my Social Security Number completely wrong for an ANS phone that was stolen and it looked like I had two LifeLine accounts which is against the law.

ANS ul 40 = Frustration!

This was a replacement for another equally awful free phone, a coolpad 33a, which *** out in @ 4 months. Or maybe it replaced the ZTE quest - another terrible experience.

This ANS ul40 worked ok for a couple months. Then it stopped ringing. Occasionally it would ring, but not when messages or phone calls came in. I could call out and access WiFi.

Otherwise, nothing. I’ve had the phone for @ 4 months and now it does not turn on. Stopped completely. Cannot remove the battery.

Total piece of crap.

I may have to buy a phone that works with this free service. Did that a few years ago and was perfectly happy with a $15 Kyocera flip phone for years.

My ANS40 won't charge. I hoped that it was the charger itself since I have lots of those but noooo of course not.

Assurance wants me to pay them $$ to send me a replacement. Why is the US gov't using a foreign country for our phones anyhow?

Yea,this has to be the worst "smart" phone ever. Mine freezes constantly and has to be restarted (which takes forever) at least once a day, and the battery life is abysmal.

I would buy a better phone, but the assurance alternative phones in quality one store are all reconditioned and overpriced (scam?). Seriously thinking of switching to another safelink provider that hopefully is less frustrating!

I guess I'm wondering how long you had to wait between replacements. I had the same old fashioned assurance phone i got in 2016,before smart phones were even given out.when it finally died in July I told them i didn't want a smartphone.

They told me too bad and that they didn't give out anything but , so I sucked it up and got with it. Now is broken and they won't replace it because it hasn't been a year so if you've only had them for months at a time how do you get them to send new ones?

The ANS UL 40 you mentioned is a total POS! I have that phone thru Assurance Wireless.

This is my 5th replacement UL 40. This phone breaks down the minute you touch it. Even looking At it or breathing on it causes it to malfunction. You can't make any call in actual emergency!!!!

When you make calls, the phone restarts every time. The UI is terrible!

The phones are garbage & you may or may not be able to use them during an emergency. It's great to offer free phones to people who otherwise might not be able to afford one, but it's criminal to give them phones that might not even power on when really needed.

I signed up with them for the lifeline program several weeks ago. I am on the third phone and I have not decided what to do. I can not receive phone calls or set up my email. Everyone who calls gets the same thing," please enter your mailbox number" but no matter what number you put in, it is not valid. I think it is in the programming, not the phone.,

Yesterday on September 25, 2019 I was told by the representative that needed to go to another provider since I didn't like their phones! My phone has not worked since day one. The second phone they sent did not work. Instead of resolving my issue, a supposed to be supervisor sent me return labels to send both phones back and disconnected my phone while I was still talking to her! I had to call back immediately to have it tunrned back on! I have had nothing but abusive, horrifying customer service and they are confident in their actions as if that is what they are trained to do. The young lady from yesterday began speaking half English on purpose so that I would not understand her to frustrate me more, ON PURPOSE, and stated that "We are in another country and we have no control over whether your phone works or not"! Also stating that the supervisors here in the U.S. pays them to talk to us and if I didn't like their customer service behavior and the phones that the warehouse keeps sending me to go to another provider and then hung up in my face as always!

Bad phone, worse customer support. If it's not illegal, then it should be.

I got an ANS UL40 from them back in July and within 3 months it stopped working. When I called their phone number and talked to a representative, they said that the warranty is only 60 days from the day you received it. So $25 to have a phone for two months, after that you have to order another phone. I think they definitely need to be slapped down and shown that this is very, very wrong. How it happened: I used google maps to see directions on how to get somewhere that I was driving to. I did not even use location. The next morning the phone was hot and had a black screen and would not respond. So I pressed the volume up button and the power button to reboot it. Then it got stuck in the Assurance Wireless reboot loop (a common way that ANS UL40s die). After the battery ran out from rebooting all day, I charged it up, turned it on and once again, reboot loop. Remember, the battery is not removable on the UL40 anyway. As an aside, the UMX Android 6 phone I had from them did the same thing, removing and reinstalling the battery did nothing. It's not just that they have *** phones, it's the fact that you spend money on them and you get no refund because of the short warranty period. This should be illegal because it encourages ASW to sell *** phones to people and leave them hanging. The warranty should be 12 months, this will encourage them to have a "real" phone as their bottom end phone, such as an Alcatel Raven or an LG Rebel 3. These $25 phones are basically a scam. Furthermore, they are selling ANS UL40s that are "refactored" for $25, the same price as the new ones. Where do they get an ANS phone to refactor I wonder? My guess is they get them from phone recycling kiosks. Then they "fix" it, then sell it again. Then it breaks, gets recycled and continues the scam.

don't agree to the payment of $25 and just tell them that transfer you to the technical support so they can troubleshoot the phone and if they didn't resolve the problem they going to provide you a new replacement for free

Yes i would if i can get my problem fixed. I like my phone except i can't get anyone to help .

My phone doesn't ring for all incoming calls or messages. I have called several times and customer service keeps telling me i have to have another phone to help. I don't have another phone i can use . Could i get a new phone to place the one that not working properly?

Why is Assuance Wireless defrauding it"s customers and the government?

The U.S.Governmenr is paying Assurance Wireless to provide specific services for and to their customers, I know that I cannot be the only one that is aware that the service is extremely substanderd as far as the supposedly 4g data I have NEVER had ,or heard of ANY slower service !!!!! And in attempts to rectify,or even speak live to a representative for Assurance has proven to be in accessable . Your company affords only automated inquiry in a situation !!!! I will pursue this issue on behalf of myself and the entire Assurance Customer community!!

I will state that as of today I am NEVER going back to Assurance Wireless. This has been the nail on the coffin for me.

I received a replacement for their God awful UMX devices which would not allow me to make PHONE CALLS, something a PHONE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO. After all the *** I went through and even contacting the Better Business Bureau about it to direct my case, they finally agreed on sending a replacement to my home.

After yet another moment of *** to activate that thing (I had to go online to their website to do such instead of just marking a phone number) I find out the SAME issue plagued it despite of the device being new! What is this nonsense?!

How can a phone carrier that prides itself to help those with low resources offer such horrible devices on which you cannot even be able to make phone calls with? Like I said above I am not bothering with this company after this.

SHAME ON YOU ASSURANCE WIRELESS.

The connection to Sprint only works about half the time, which means that both phone and internet service only works 50% of the time, the service is worthless. The problem can not be resolved thru their customer service; don't waste your time with this company, or their service.

Install ookla so you can change the sprint server to a third party provider that is closer to your location. Do speed test and find the quickest provider.

Change network settings to automatic from the default setting of home. So it wont keep going to sprint server. Also disable auto update so software is not being updated when you use your phone. That will speed the phone.

Also disable BS application that you dont use. Assurance is last on sprints network. It is cdma technology. Eveb if you get a new phone yor still last on sprints network.

I suggest applying for safelink. They will send a sim card 4glte nerwork. It is gsm technolody works great but you will have to get a tmobile phone that is not branded. Works great.

It runs on the tracfonw network.

Also turn off your roaming settings. On your asssurance phone.
