The reason I called assurance wireless is because they are my phone carrier .

I am a disabled Vietnam Era Veteran living on $1072.00 monthly .

I had my phone replaced in June because the previous phone quit dialing certain numbers .

This replacement phone has the keypad locked out , but it dials 911 while in my pocket .

I receive calls and cannot hang up the call .

When phone is in lock mode it says enter OK button , then Back Button to unlock . It takes 5 to 10 attempts before I can unlock the phone .

I talked to a customer service representative and explained my situation that this is my only phone . I have it in case of an emergency . It does not work , programming has nothing to do with buttons that don't work or calls that cannot be hung up . She said I have to call back with a different phone to have this phone reprogrammed , but I told her I only have this phone . This is my LIFELINE !

I asked for her supervisor and after a long wait I was hooked up and again I re-explained my situation .

I was told again I am not allowed a replacement phone .

I was accused of profanity , which I did not do until the end when after informing the supervisor I was going to take this up with my government and also hire an attorney .

I tried to hang up and my phone , but it would not let me hang up , and that's when I got mad and said Mother *** I cannot hang up this call .

I will keep you posted on my case .

I agree with you, Assurance Wireless sometimes send out defective phones. Many times these phones are already pre-used and it's not uncommon to have them sent already not working properly.

I used a basic, non touch screen phone with a 1 inch by 1inch display and no camera for around 3 years before requesting a replacement. Not because I wanted a new phone, but rather it simply died on me. 2 months after getting my replacement phone, it stopped working and now they want me to purchase a new one when I did nothing to damage the replacement I just received. I am very grateful for phone assistance and would never abuse the program, however being given a defective phone and then asked to pay for a new one isn't right.

I have been disabled since birth and cannot afford a new phone. I am fine with having a non modern phone, (even another copy of the original phone I had). I just need something I can use to call to make my doctors appointments and for emergencies should they apply.

Assurance Wireless should not send out used phones and expect customers to pay if they are defective, especially when their customer base is people in need who have a hard time affording their basic needs. I highly recommend choosing a different provider.
